Matt joined Oxford Economics' Economic Impact team in 2014. In his time with the company, he has worked on a diverse range of Economic Impact studies, including in the creative industries, tourism and retail sectors.

Between 2019 and 2022, Matt was based in our Singapore office, supporting the development of a specialist Economic Impact team there, before relocating back to London to work in the Economics and Sustainability team. Matt holds both a BSc (Hons) and an MSc (Hons) in Economics, from the University of Bristol.

Michael Brennan is a Director at Oxford Economics, based in Australia, specialising in applied microeconomics, including cost-benefit analysis, program evaluation, business cases and economic impact assessment. He has extensive experience advising government and corporate clients across transport, energy, technology, defence and infrastructure sectors.

Before joining Oxford Economics, Michael held leadership roles at Accenture Strategy, AlphaBeta and Deloitte Access Economics, where he led major projects on the energy transition, digital transformation, infrastructure investment and workforce planning. His work has influenced public policy, government investment decisions and regulation across some of Australia’s most critical industries.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Economics (First Class Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia.

Michael first joined Oxford Economics Canada as an Economic Research Analyst Intern in the Toronto office in early 2019 and has since been promoted to a Senior Economist. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Financial Management from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Toronto.

Michael Kleiman is an Associate Director and leads the Macroeconomic Consulting team in North America. Since joining Oxford Economics in 2014 Mike has led a variety of consulting projects, including assessments of trade policy, energy policy, and climate regulation. Mike also led the development of Oxford Economics’ Canadian Provincial and Territorial Model (CPTM), a large-scale, detailed bottom-up model of the Canadian economy covering all thirteen provinces and territories.

Prior to joining Oxford Economics, Mike worked as an economist in the New York representative office of the Banca d'Italia covering macroeconomic, political, and financial system issues in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He holds a Masters degree in Economics from New York University and a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from Tufts University.

He holds degrees in Economic History from the London School of Economics and in Economics from University College London, and has lived and worked in the UK and Switzerland.

Michael – based in Sydney, Australia – is our Head of APAC Tourism Analysis, working on a combination of subscription products and bespoke consulting projects. Michael contributes to forecasts for travel flows in APAC, analysis trends and developments in the region, and presents our most recent outlook at events and webinars. 

Having worked with Oxford Economics for four years, including in the Oxford and Frankfurt offices, Michael has delivered a variety of projects for clients. These include economic impact analysis for attractions, events and sub-sectors of the tourism industry, custom forecasts and scenarios, and the impact of policies on tourism demand. Prior to joining Tourism Economics, Michael worked at the Reserve Bank of Australia for seven years.

Neil is the Deputy CEO at Oxford Economics. He has over 15 years' experience and oversees the economic consultancy team as well as the development of the Global Economic model, Global Scenarios, Megatrends and Global Climate services.

He also leads projects for large corporate and financials clients to develop business planning scenarios covering demographic, technological, geopolitical, policy, climate and transition developments. His team supports the delivery of a large number regulatory stress scenarios for financial institutions including the PRA, MAS, and HKMA along with supporting clients with IFRS 9/CECL requirements. Building on his work developing the Global Economic Model he also works with clients to develop organization specific modelling enhancements to aid with financial planning and decision making.

Some of his recent research focus has been on the economic impact of temperature volatility on economic growth.  This research builds on the work of Burke et al 2015 to focus on the role of the temperature anomaly instead of levels leading to significantly more economically consequential economic impact than previously estimated.
