Michael Kleiman is an Associate Director and leads the Macroeconomic Consulting team in North America. Since joining Oxford Economics in 2014 Mike has led a variety of consulting projects, including assessments of trade policy, energy policy, and climate regulation. Mike also led the development of Oxford Economics’ Canadian Provincial and Territorial Model (CPTM), a large-scale, detailed bottom-up model of the Canadian economy covering all thirteen provinces and territories.

Prior to joining Oxford Economics, Mike worked as an economist in the New York representative office of the Banca d'Italia covering macroeconomic, political, and financial system issues in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He holds a Masters degree in Economics from New York University and a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering from Tufts University.

Michael Pearce is the Deputy Chief US Economist based in New York City, sharing responsibility for forecasting the US economy and monetary policy. He has a particular focus on the US consumer and inflation. Before joining Oxford Economics, Michael worked for the Treasury in the UK, and was a senior member of the US economics team at Capital Economics for more than a decade, and he lived and worked in the UK, US, and Switzerland during that time. He has a masters degree in economic history from the London School of Economics, and a bachelors degree in economics from University College London.

Michael – based in Sydney, Australia – is our Head of APAC Tourism Analysis, working on a combination of subscription products and bespoke consulting projects. Michael contributes to forecasts for travel flows in APAC, analysis trends and developments in the region, and presents our most recent outlook at events and webinars. 

Having worked with Oxford Economics for four years, including in the Oxford and Frankfurt offices, Michael has delivered a variety of projects for clients. These include economic impact analysis for attractions, events and sub-sectors of the tourism industry, custom forecasts and scenarios, and the impact of policies on tourism demand. Prior to joining Tourism Economics, Michael worked at the Reserve Bank of Australia for seven years.

Since joining Oxford Economics in 2021, Mohammad has worked on several user models and socioeconomic impact studies for clients based in Middle East and Europe. This includes the development of an economic impact tool for a major port in the UAE, the socio-economic impact assessment of the fashion and textile industry, and the economic footprint for an international energy company across UK and Europe.

Before joining Oxford Economics, he was an economist at the Office for National Statistics, with a focus on productivity and firm-level analysis where he co-authored in numerous articles and academic papers. He holds a MSc in Economics at University of Reading.

Neil is the Managing Director of the Macro Modelling and Scenarios team at Oxford Economics. He has over 10 years' experience and oversees the production and development of the Global Economic model and Global Scenario Service.

He also leads projects for large corporate and financials clients to develop business planning scenarios covering demographic, technological, geopolitical, policy and climate and transition developments . His team also supports the delivery of a large number regulatory stress scenarios for financial institutions including the PRA, MAS, and HKMA. He also works with clients to develop bespoke organization specific modeling enhancements to aid with financial planning and decision making.

Some of his recent research focus has been on the economic impact of temperature volatility on economic growth.  This research built on the work of Burke et al 2015 to focus on the role of the temperature anomaly instead of levels leading to significantly more economically consequential results that previously estimated.

Dr Nicholas Fearnley is the Head of Global Construction Forecasting, based in Sydney. Nicholas oversees the teams that produce the various construction, mining, and maintenance studies. He works over the full construction spectrum, and regularly presents and provides commentary for both the construction and mining industries.

Nicholas joined Oxford Economics in 2019 after working at Macromontor, where he was responsible for producing regular Australian building construction forecast reports, and bespoke cost escalation and material demand forecasts.

Prior to joining Macromonitor, Nicholas completed a PhD at the University of Sydney with a thesis titled: “A Critical and Quantitative Analysis of the Relationship between Informal Institutions and Economic Development.” He was awarded the Walter Noel Gillies Prize for best PhD thesis in Economics, and his thesis was accepted without edits.

Nicholas has undergraduate degrees in both Accounting and Applied Finance from Macquarie University, and a first class honours degree in Accounting from the University of Sydney with a thesis titled: “Culture and the Measurement Decision Offered by Investment Property”.

He has over 12 years of experience researching and advising clients on commercial real estate strategies, covering direct, indirect and listed markets. Nick holds a Masters (MSc) in Finance from the University of Ulster, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Business (majoring in Real Estate) from the University of Queensland, Australia.

Nick specialises in model building and economic impact analysis. He has experience of working on major studies for clients in many different industries and countries in both the private and public sectors, built up from a twenty-five-year career working in Economic Consultancy.

Since joining Oxford Economics in 2008, Nick has worked on many high-profile economic impact studies across the aerospace, defence, and transport sectors. He has also led studies for several international food and beverage companies across different countries that looked at the implications of different excise tax regimes both for the structure of markets and for government revenues.

Nick previously spent 12 years at Experian where he directed the Economics Business Unit and established the Economic Modelling Team. Nick holds a first-class BSc (Hons) in Business Economics with Computing from the University of Surrey.
