Economic Impact of The Pitt Season One in California
Commissioned by the Motion Picture Association (MPA)
The production of The Pitt, Season One resulted in nearly $87 million in total spending across California in 2024. The production spent $62.2 million (72% of the total spend) on wages and salaries for local production cast and crew, and $24.8 million (28%) on goods and services supplied by local businesses.
Oxford Economics estimates that expenditure by the production of The Pitt, Season One, contributed $125 million to California’s GDP in 2024. We find that for every $1 million that the production directly contributed to the economy—through spending on local cast and crew compensation—it supported an additional $1 million along its supply chain and through wage-induced spending.
We find that these production expenditures stimulated a total of 1,000 full-time and part-time jobs across California in 2024. For every 100 people the production directly employed, its expenditure stimulated another 75 jobs across the state.
