Housing policy outlook clears after Federal Election in Australia
Saturday’s Federal Election decisively delivered a second term for the Albanese government, clearing up the policy outlook.
Leading into the election, housing policy focus shifted towards first home buyers. As newly announced policies work their way through Parliament, we see attention returning to more supply aids to achieve the increasingly unrealistic National Housing Accord target.
Outside of this, the result largely points to a continuation of the existing policy thrust. This increases certainty for institutional investors, as well as social and affordable housing providers for at least the next few years
