Recovery Tracker falls after setbacks in Brazil and Chile

Our Latin America Recovery Tracker (LART) fell slightly (-0.7pts) during the week ending June 18, following two consecutive weekly gains. Setbacks in Brazil and Chile more than offset modest improvements elsewhere.
What you will learn:
- Despite the week’s drop, Brazil remains the leader in the race to pre-pandemic activity levels as of mid-June, which is confirmed by our forecast that Q2 GDP will be marginally bigger than it was in Q4 2019.
- Although health conditions haven’t improved substantially and the third wave remains uncontrolled in most countries, authorities have refrained from imposing strict restrictions.
- The key changes to our LART for the week ending June 18 relative to the prior week.
