LATAM | Recovery Tracker jumps on Brazil’s big rebound
![]()
Our Latin America Recovery Tracker (LART) jumped 1.9pts during the week
ending April 30, after the previous week’s 0.1pt drop was revised to a modest
0.2pts gain. Mobility picked up everywhere but Colombia and Peru.
What you will learn:
- Brazil is once again leading the region’s return to pre-pandemic levels, with Mexico close behind. Argentina is now third, followed by Colombia. Peru’s recovery stalled, while Chile is improving but remains last.
- Brazil continues to quickly ease restrictions, despite suffering the highest death toll, whereas Mexico, with the most lenient restrictions, has the lowest death rate.
- Mobility receded in Peru and Colombia, where localized weekend curfews and mobility restrictions will last to at least mid-May. Restrictions in Mexico, Brazil, and Chile continue to ease.
