Drax Power Station plays a key role in the British energy market. Located in Selby, North Yorkshire, it provides 6% of the UK’s electricity. This report establishes the contribution of Drax Power Station to the national, regional, and local economy.
Our new report, commissioned by Drax, establishes that in 2021 Drax Power Station supported a £358 million contribution to GDP in the Yorkshire and The Humber region as well as more than 2,500 jobs. Much of this activity was within the constituency of Selby and Ainsty, where it supported a £278 million contribution to GDP, equivalent to 12% of the local economy.
