Before joining Oxford Economics, Betty served as a Senior China Economist at Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd, based in Hong Kong. She has built a strong reputation among corporate and financial institutional clients, with her China research widely cited by local and international media. Beyond her Greater China coverage, Betty took initiatives and expanded her research focus to ESG and sustainable finance, leading the team to win the best ESG research award in Australia. Betty started her career at Standard Chartered Bank in 2008, where she worked as a Northeast Asia Economist.

Bianca works with the technology team to coordinate various projects. She has a rich background in development economics and research. Over the last few years, she has worked as an intern and short-term temporary consultant at the World Bank, as a lecturer at the University of Johannesburg, as a research assistant to several academics and Economists, and co-founded the Economic Development and Well-being Research Group (EDWRG).

Bianca holds a Masters in Development Economics, Honours in Economics and Undergrad in Human Resources Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. She graduated Cum Laude and top of the class for all her degrees.

Brendon Verster, who obtained his master’s degree in economics (with distinction) from the University of Pretoria, is an economist at Oxford Economics Africa. He is responsible for the macroeconomic analysis of Nigeria, Mauritius and the DRC. In his previous role, Brendon gained extensive consultancy experience and worked on various projects in both the public and private sectors related to sustainability, renewable energy, and economic development.

Bridget is Head of Energy Forecasting. She leads the production of oil, gas, coal, and refined fuel forecasts for our Commodities Service and shapes Oxford Economics’ view on energy markets through analysis of key trends and developments.

Bridget joined Oxford Economics from the energy consultancy Flow&Ebb, where she supported corporate and industrial users with energy hedging, procurement, investment, and strategy. Prior to that, she worked in the Victoria State Government Department of Treasury and Finance, focusing on energy and climate policy.

She holds a Master of Development Economics from Victoria University of Wellington and a Bachelor of Business (Economics) from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Charles Burton joined Oxford Economics in April 2008 as the Director of Business Development and is currently the company's Executive Director. He is also a fellow and council member of the Society of Business Economists and non-executive Chairman of the Sofia Property Fund, an AIM-listed real estate fund, as well as a member of the Scottish Government's Economic Consultants Advisory Group.

Charles has had a long career in business economics. He was an economist for Beecham Pharmaceuticals, before joining the Confederation of British Industry in 1975. At the CBI, he ran the company's business surveys and economic forecasting teams. As Deputy Director of Economics, he was later responsible for the CBI's economic policy representations. Between 1985 and 1988, he was in charge of the economic forecasting and consultancy business of Wharton Econometrics (now part of IHS Global Insight) in the UK and Europe. In 1988, he was CEO and one of the founding directors of Business Strategies Ltd, a leading independent forecasting and consulting operation. After its acquisition by Experian in 2002, he was the global managing director for the company's Business Strategies division.

Chen Zhao is the Chief Global Strategist of Alpine Macro. From 2015 to 2016, he was Co-Director of Macro Research at Brandywine Global Investment Management. Prior to Brandywine Global, Chen spent 23 years at BCA Research as Partner, Managing Editor and Chief Global Strategist, Chen developed and wrote BCA’s China and Emerging Markets publications in the 1990s. Chen became the firm’s Chief Global Strategist in the 2000s and was the author of BCA’s flagship publication, Global Investment Strategy from 2005 to 2015. He holds an MA in economics from the Central University of Finance and Economics, was a visiting scholar at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and pursued post graduate studies with a PhD candidacy at McGill University.

Before CLIA, Savelli was the Senior Director of Business Intelligence and Research at MPI (Meeting Professionals International) and Director of Business Intelligence at Maritz Travel. Additionally, he has ten years of experience in the hotel industry and holds an MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School, UNC-Chapel Hill.

Prior to joining Oxford Economics, Chris worked in the economics department of the British Business Bank, and for economic consulting firm Simetrica-Jacobs, where he specialised in cost-benefit analysis and impact evaluation. He has an MSc in International Economics & Economic Policy from Goethe University Frankfurt.
